Blood Outranked Trust

King Edward the Fourth is dead.

Before he passed, he named Cedric Blackthorne Lord Protector… until his newborn son could come of age.

The four kingdoms accepted the decree. Every realm agreed… except one man.

Prince Frederick

Frederick believed blood outranked trust. He believed the throne was his by lineage alone.

He marched with the Royal Guard, convinced loyalty would crown him.

But the capital had already chosen Cedric. They chose order over ambition. Stability over hunger. The heir over a claimant.

The breaking of the Guard

What Are We Fighting For?

Cedric marched from the north. Zehlor from the east. They met Frederick on the King’s Mile.

Steel broke. Shields buckled. Mud swallowed men and horses.

And then the soldiers asked the only question that mattered:

“What are we fighting for?”

Not the heir. Not the grain. Not the realm. Only a man’s want for a crown.

Frederick’s Guard faltered. Then they yielded. They chose the realm.

The prince was taken alive… and sent to Stoneburn.

Some betray with daggers. Others… with belief.
